The PUM Series is a back-of-the-panel type modular temperature controller featuring 2 or 4 control loops. It accepts 4 thermocouple/RTD/Current/Voltage inputs. With a 24 V DC power supply and RS-485 MODBUS communication the PUM is an ideal choice for machine automation. It not only helps in reducing the burden of the PLC but also provide the user with ready-to-serve functions like Multi-zone control, Heater break alarms, Soft start function, 32 Step Ramp/Soak programming, Soft alarms and many more. A three way detachable terminal structure allows the PUM to be easily replaced during maintenance. A common bus for power supply & communication helps in reduced wiring. A program loader port provided on the front of the PUM helps in uploading configuration files from a Laptop or a PC, thus reducing valuable set-up time. High-speed communication (115.2 kbps) and a 200 msec sampling time enable the PUM to be used not only in temperature control applications but also for process measurements such as pressure and flow control. Isolation of the CPU & Output circuitry from the Power Supply section provides excellent resistance against noise. Recently added software functions like Output Distribution Function, Synchronized Rise Function, Peak Current Suppress Function, Remote SV Selection Function (for Cascade & Ration Control) and Synchronized Operation Function have made the PUM more versatile, powerful & suitable for all machine and process applications.
The simple architecture of the PUM series helps in connecting it with various PLCs, HMI units, Variable Frequency Drives and many other field instruments. Now with the availability of additional modules the PUM can provide a complete automation solution, thus eliminating the use of PLCs in smaller machines. In mid-sized & large machines the PUM can help in reducing Digital & Analog Input / Outputs of the PLC system and efficiently control process parameters independently, thus reducing the computing load of the PLC.
